Volunteer Divers Take Holiday Tradition to Riverwalk

Pueblo, CO: Each year the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Dive Team combines their underwater skills with the Halloween tradition of pumpkin carving. This year the divers will compete against each other as they attempt to create the best underwater Jack-O-Lantern. Crowd response will determine which diver will be the “Crowned Carver”. The event will be held at the Pueblo Riverwalk on Saturday, October 27 @ 9:00 A.M.

Citizens and guests of Pueblo County are encouraged to come and cheer on their favorite diver. Demonstrations of ice water safety, information on emergency preparedness, as well as applications to join the dive team will be available. Trick or Treat bags will be handed out to the children in attendance.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team is a specialized group of men and women who respond on rescue and recovery missions in the waterways of Pueblo. These volunteers commit to training, drills, and responses throughout Pueblo County and offer assistance to other jurisdictions. The team is one of three specialty teams made up entirely of volunteers at the PCSO Emergency Services Bureau. The other teams are Fire and Search & Rescue.

Citizen’s unable to attend this event but interested in volunteering for any of these teams can contact us at 719/583-6204 or visit www.pueblosheriff.comesb
