Buntport Theater Company presents the 8th and FINAL Season of its award-winning comedy series for all ages- TRUNKS: A LIVE COMIC BOOK! Opening Nov. 3 at 1pm and 3pm!
TRUNKS welcomes comedy-loving Denverites of all ages to step inside its world of pseudo-superpowers, sort-of-secret identities, and goofy gadgetry for ONE MORE SEASON! You won’t want to miss a single episode, because this season the show will celebrate its 100th episode on Dec. 15th and then conclude with an awesome Grand Finale Trilogy!
Centered upon an endearingly hapless team of superheroes, TRUNKS’ plots and intrigues are loosely based upon books suggested by its audience members. Every TRUNKS episode is new and different, with each installment hitting the stage hot off the presses.
Under the creative direction of actor-writer-directors Jessica Robblee, Mitch Slevc, and Josh Hartwell, each episode expands and elaborates upon the TRUNKS universe. O
ver 100 quick-witted, high-octane actors have performed in the series as guest stars, and additional contributing writers have included the talented Rhaetia Hanscum, Matt Zambrano, and Steven J. Burge. (For more on the TRUNKS universe, see our Guide to Past Seasons!)
Though TRUNKS has its history, newcomers need not fear! Anyone can join the serial fun, because each episode easily stands on its own.
Veterans appreciate episodes singly and in context
– some having followed the show as they have made their way from kindergarten to 6th grade!
Adults regularly share that TRUNKS is at least as fun for them as it is for their kids-one of several indicators that the
series has lived up to reviewer John Moore’s 2005 prediction that it would become “Denver’s first Saturday morning appointment theater, addicting everyone from tots to 20-somethings to giggling grandparents.”
Come be a part of the innovative show that has been honored with: the Colorado Theater Guild’s Henry Award for Special Achievement in Children’s Theater, 2 Denver Post Ovation Awards for Best Children’s Production, and Westword’s Award for Best Kids’ Birthday Party.
TRUNKS is just one example of the Buntport Theater Company’s dedication to the creation of affordable, innovative, and original productions brought about through a collaborative process.
Buntport has been happily creating new work in Denver for twelve years. In addition to full-length plays, Buntport offers a variety of creative programming, lively debates on the inane, and an ongoing series performed in the third floor freight elevator of the Denver Art Museum. T
he TRUNKS team has created 4 traveling productions (using Greek mythology, classic poems, short stories by O. Henry, and Colorado history as source material), and they tour these various shows for young audiences to schools and libraries around Colorado (www.buntport.com/education).
