The Southern Colorado Reading Series at Colorado State University-Pueblo will offer its final author of the fall semester with South African writer Zakes Mda at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 1in the Library and Academic Resources Center 109. The reading is free, and refreshments will be provided.
An internationally renowned novelist, playwright, painter, music composer, Mda is the author of seven novels including Cion, The Whale Caller, Ways of Dying, and The Heart of Redness. He is the winner of all the major literary awards in South Africa, the American Library Association Notable Books in the USA, and was also shortlisted for the NAACP Image Award. His most recent book, Sometimes There is a Void:, was published in 2012.
