Throughout her innocent 1950s Lake Erie childhood, Thordis Niela Simonsen never dreamed of writing a book or living abroad or restoring a house by hand. And she was long deterred by her mother’s obstinate will from pursuing the one thing she did dream of: becoming an artist. Eventually, all these became a part of her dream-like reality. Evocative and entertaining, “Building on Memory” is one woman’s soulful and inspiring journey told through Thordis’ own words, photographs and paintings. A conversation with the audience and book signing will follow.
