ASU Students Experience Small Business Ownership First-Hand

Students from Bill Herrmann’s Adams State University managerial cost accounting class visit Rustic Log Furniture of Alamosa. Randy Jackson, owner and founder and a School of Business alumnus ‘98, explains how “dead standing” aspen trees become works of art furniture that are shipped across the United States. During the tour, Herrmann’s students learned about raw materials, delivery, inventory, manufacturing, plant design, staffing – and the costs associated with all.

According to Herrmann, “It’s valuable to be able to show a manufacturing operation nearby utilizing the resources of the SLV valley.”
