Pueblo City Attorney Tom Florczak has announced he will be leaving the City of Pueblo effective October 15, 2012, to begin work with the City of Colorado Springs. In his new role up north, Florczak will serve as the Deputy City Attorney for its City Attorney, Chris Melcher.
“This is an exciting career opportunity for me,” he announced recently to City Administration and his fellow department heads. Florczak, who has provided legal services to Pueblo in one capacity or another for 34 years, further stated, “I have been honored and humbled to serve as Pueblo’s City Attorney for the past three years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the present City Council, former Council Members, my fellow department heads, and the Law Department Staff. It is also with much sadness that I leave, and I wish the best for Pueblo and its citizens.”
Interim City Manager Jim Munch stated, “Tom has demonstrated outstanding leadership over the years and has been a true protector of the City’s best interest. His extensive knowledge of the City’s history and the skills that he brings to the job each day will be greatly missed. However, I am sure his association with Colorado Springs will help bring our two cities closer together.”
