Starting today, the Zoo is changing to our Fall/Winter hours which is 9:00am – 4:00pm Monday through Saturday, and Sundays Noon – 4:00 pm. Enclosed is a list of all the fun activities and events the Zoo has planned for the month of September.
Upcoming Events at the Pueblo Zoo
September 7, 14, 21, 28, 2012 – Animal Tales
Join us for story time and an animal close encounter at the Pueblo Zoo. Story time and animal talk will be everyFriday in September, with one talk occurring at 11am and another at 1pm. Regular Zoo admission rates apply: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $7 for youth (ages 13-17), $6 for children (ages 3-12). Program is free for Pueblo Zoo Members.
September 9 – 15, 2012 – Senior Week
The senior citizens in the Pueblo community are very important to the Pueblo Zoo. During this week senior citizens (65 +) will receive free admission to the Zoo.
September 12, 2012 – Senior Safari – Wednesday (10:00 am – 2:00 pm)
In keeping with the theme of honoring our senior citizens, the Pueblo Zoo willfill the day with music by Tom Munch, refreshments, bingo, and Zoo Docents with animal presentations. Join us for this fun day at the Zoo. Free admission for senior citizens! Senior Safari is sponsored by: Colorado State Veterans Home in Walsenburg, Life Care Center of Pueblo, University Park Care Center, and Waste Management.
September 15, 2012 – International Red Panda Day – Saturday
In honor of International Red Panda Day there will be two keeper talks held at the Red Panda
September 13, 2012 – Volunteer Open House – Thursday (10:00 am – 11:00 am)
Learn about how you can make a difference at the Pueblo Zoo! Volunteers are needed in: the education department, gift shop, ranch, gardens, and for special events. Join us to learn more about the volunteer opportunities available. Must be high school age (or older) to be able to volunteer. Open house will be in the Zoo’s classroom in the education building. If you are unable to come you can get additional information from Sharon at 719-561-1452 ext 125.
September 26, 2012 – Wolf Talk at the Pueblo Convention Center – Wednesday (7:00pm)
Pueblo Zoo presents speakers: Doug Smith, PhD and Bob Landis at the Pueblo Convention Center. Doug Smith, PhD and Yellowstone Wolf Project leader, will discuss the recovery of wolves to Yellowstone National Park and the benefits to the ecosystem due to the return of wolves. Bob Landis, cinematographer for National Geographic, Nature, and PBS will present spectacular footage of Yellowstone’s diverse native species along with stunning scenery of Yellowstone National Park.
