Jenny Bird Returning to Alamosa

ALAMOSA (Sep. 18) Jenny Bird has been called “the most passionate performer in the new folk genre,” and now to celebrate the release of her 12h album, “Migration,” and 25 years of recording in the San Luis Valley, Bird will perform Sat., Sept. 29, 7pm, at Milagros Coffeehouse, on the corner of State Ave. and Main St. in Alamosa, sponsored by the Alamosa Live Music Association. Admission will be $11 and include a free Grizzly Gusher or 12oz. cup of coffee. The stage is Bird’s second home, where she’s been presenting her original songs since the age of ten. Professionally managed as a teenager, she lived and recorded in Germany and Belgium. For the last 20 years, she’s toured widely and consistently, playing festivals and clubs across Europe, Canada, and the United States. She is well respected in her home town of Taos, N.M., where she records and teaches music. Bird’s recordings feature such guests as blues virtuoso Rory Block and rainbow warrior Eliza Gilkyson. She has appeared throughout the country, performing on the same stage with Sheryl Crow, John Prine, Iris Dement, JJ Cale, Blues Traveler, Sinead O’Connor, Indigo Girls and Sarah McLachlan, to name a few. Jenny’s music leaves her audiences touched, transformed, inspired and singing all the way home.
