Junior Kyle Westmoreland ties for 10th individually
The Air Force golf team wrapped up action Tuesday at the third annual Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado. The Falcons finished the tournament in ninth place with a total score of 867 after firing a 288 in the final round on the par-72, 7,741-yard course at the Colorado National Golf Club.
Junior Kyle Westmoreland posted Air Force’s best round of the day with a three-under par 69, finishing in a tie for 10th overall with a three-round total of four-under par 212. Senior Andrew Hoops finished in a tie for 27th at 216, while junior Jack Howard tied for 35th with a 218. Junior Todd Berglund tied his career-best round with a one-under par 71 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 65th with a total of 225.
Junior Blake Jones (76th / 232) and freshman Matthew Dunn (T, 78th / 235) rounded out the falcon roster. Dunn played the tournament as an individual player.
Oregon State won the tournament with a 21-under par 843, while Colorado State’s Kirby Pettitt won the individual title with a 14-under-par 202.
The Falcons return to action Oct. 5-7 at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship in Macon, Ga. The tournament is hosted by Mercer University.
