The Colorado Springs School to Celebrate 50 Years!

As the 2012-2013 school year begins, The Colorado Springs School (CSS) will be celebrating 50 years of pioneering innovation, responsive and creative teaching, and leadership by example. The celebrations will take place September 7 – 10, 2012.

Friday, September 7, 2012
Founders’ Day Special Assembly
9:40 a.m., Louisa Performing Arts Center

Founders’ Day Honorees: Al Adams, former faculty member and Debbie Scaling Kiley ’76
Induction of Athletic Hall of Fame Honorees: Jennifer Cogswell ’72, Matt Field ’81, and Katharin Binkowski Collings ’87. The Athletic Hall of Fame is sponsored by UMB Bank.
Induction of Arts Hall of Fame Honorees: Rebecca Devere ’79, Patrick Shearn ’80, Edward Aldrich ’83, and John Goodman ’87
Art exhibition and refreshments to follow the Founders’ Day Assembly in the Louisa Gallery.

Alumni REUNION Reception
5:00 p.m., Louisa Performing Arts Center
Following the REUNION reception, classes will break for class-level dinners and their own activities.

Ceremonial First Day of School
8:15 a.m., In Front of the Trianon
A gathering of all students, faculty, parents, alumni and local dignitaries for a ceremonial first day of school and tributes to Janet LeCompte, founder, and  Margaret Campbell, founding headmistress. Dedication of the Janet LeCompte Plaza.

The school’s 50th will be celebrated in a way that reflects the school’s core values through the decades and engages current students and their parents, as well as alumni, past faculty and past parents.
