The Sand Creek Summit is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21st from 9-10:30am at Airport Rd. and Sand Creek. The goal of the summit is to convene various stormwater management stakeholders in the Pikes Peak Region to begin a process to address regional stormwater management issues throughout the area and launch a work group to clearly define the scope of stormwater control needs and possible sustainable solutions.
The Sand Creek Summit is organized by El Paso County, the City of Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Utilities. Representatives from municipalities throughout the Pikes Peak Region as well as private sector, military, educational and water district stakeholders will participate in the event.
“Stormwater solutions are something that need to be assessed at a regional level,” said Chair of the Board of El Paso County Commissioners Amy Lathen. “We need to come to together and take a look at what needs are most critical and how to most efficiently take care of them.”
“As a representative for the City of Colorado Springs, I am looking forward to the regional collaboration and innovation that will be brought forward to address our critical stormwater needs,” said City Council Member Brandy Williams.
