The city will go out of fire restrictions effective at 12:00pm MST on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Fire Marshal Brett Lacey stated, “We have had an extremely active fire season this year, but weather conditions are improving and restrictions can now be lifted.”
Recent precipitation and the continued high humidity has reduced the wildfire danger in the City of Colorado Springs. Fuel moisture levels are making natural fuels less vulnerable to ignition.
Residents are encouraged to “Share the Responsibility” and reduce their wildfire risk by implementing Wildfire Mitigation concepts around their homes and property. Residents are also encouraged to take advantage of the break in the hot weather to work on their property and continue their mitigation efforts. Don’t wait until the fire danger is HIGH before you take action!
