NHLI Honors Bibi Lobo

The National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) is proud to recognize Bibi Lobo as its Hermana de la Semanarepresenting the Executive Leadership Program (ELP) Class of 1997. “That year was terrifying and exhilarating, as I went through the weeks of the leadership program, soaking up experiences and knowledge. Each segment of the program taught me new skills and opened my eyes to the possibilities that we were creating back home.” After completing her fellowship with NHLI, Ms. Lobo co-founded the National Latino Children’s Institute (NCLI) with another NHLI alumna, Becky Barrera, that very same year. Her many contributions to NLCI revolved around her deep commitment to involving young people in creating their own destiny. Serving as Vice President to the institute from 1997 to 2004, Ms. Lobo was instrumental in guiding NLCI’s research on youth issues, and provided the leadership for youth involvement in policy and program development, all the while keeping NHLI’s ELP training in the forefront of her mind. “Since [1997], I’ve had the privilege to continue growing, helping to create programs that change people’s lives. I’ve not forgotten how to be there for others, especially the struggling organizations at home who need us to get them to the next level. They need our skills, our knowledge and expertise. NHLI reinforced that belief.”  In the midst of her ongoing success, Bibi has also been paired up with an Advancing Latina Leadership in Nonprofits (ALL IN) alumna as her mentee.  In this regard, Ms. Lobo continues to give back to the NHLI familia. “NHLI alums have been a part of my past, present and future. They have nurtured me, provided me with great counsel and support. I will always be grateful for the doors that have been opened, the friendships forged and the knowledge gained. Thank you NHLI y ¡feliz cumpleaños!” We thank Bibi Lobo for her unending contributions to NHLI. Congratulations Bibi!
