Several members of the U.S. Junior national synchronized swimming team put together a strong showing at the Hungarian Open last weekend, with Lorraine Hack(Seattle, Wash.) winning bronze in figures and a silver in duet with teammate Sandra Ortellado (Walnut Creek, Calif.).
In figures, Morgan Boneberg (Clayton, Calif.) finished fourth, Alyson Haylor (Las Vegas, Nev./Walnut Creek, Calif.) was eighth and Ortellado finished 15th. There were 49 figures competitors at the event held July 6-8.
Hack finished with 73.444 points in figures, winning one of the four, the Gaviata. Boneberg was close behind with 72.321 points, Haylor had 71.389 and Ortellado 69.914.
Hack and Ortellado (151.189 points) took second in duet behind Hungary’s Eszter Czekus and Szofi Kiss (158.122), who will compete at the Olympic Games in London.
Several members of the junior national team are set to compete at the U.S. Open National Championships in Henderson, Nev., July 11-14. The U.S. Junior National Team will compete at the 13th World Junior Synchronized Swimming Championships in Greece in September.
