Pilot With Landing Gear Malfunction Lands Safely at Colorado Springs Airport

At 5:45PM this evening the Colorado Springs Airport Communication Center was notified that the pilot of a Cessna 210 aircraft could not get the right main landing gear down and locked. There were two people on board the aircraft, which was on a flight from Liberal, Kansas to the Colorado Springs Airport. After circling for an hour to burn fuel, the pilot made a successful belly landing at 7:04PM. There were no injuries as a result of the landing and the aircraft sustained only moderate damage.

Colorado Springs Airport Operations, Peterson Air Force Base Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Colorado Springs Fire Department and American Medical Response prepared and responded to the emergency.
