Stick horse races, a family 5K run, kiddie dress up review, and a special kids rodeo; Sounds like a pretty exciting Saturday morning right? The Pikes Peak or Bust Special Kids rodeo and the 64thannual Kiddie Dress Up Review is this Saturday, July 7th at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
The Kiddie Dress Up has become an annual tradition for the little buckaroos who love rodeo. There are five categories for children ages 3-12 years old including Novelty Boy, Novelty Girl, Working Cowboy, Working Cowgirl, and Rodeo Arena. Children are encouraged to dress up in what they feel portrays the different categories. The Kiddie Dress Up will take place at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame Gardens, with registration at 8:30 and the contest beginning at 9a.m. The top three (3) winners in each of the categories will receive prizes and be invited to ride on the Western Spirit float in the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo parade on Tuesday, July 10th at 6:30p.m.
The 16th annual Special Rodeo kicks off at 7:30a.m., with a 5k family fun run, followed by the kids stick horse race at 8:45a.m., and the ever popular special rodeo at 10:00a.m., with participants from the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center. Registration for the 5K fun run is $30 and is available at www.pptrc.org
Admission to watch any of these events is free to the public.
The 72nd annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo returns to the Norris-Penrose Event Center once again as one of the nation’s premier Rodeo Competitions sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). During July 11-14, Colorado Springs is the focal point for World Champions and rising stars in their quest for the World Championship title.
