Celebrate Colorado Day with the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum

WHY:    The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum will celebrate Colorado Day on Saturday, August 4, with activities, crafts and refreshments.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

·         In partnership with PPLD the Museum will have station in Henderson Gallery (10am to 2pm) where guests can be briefly interviewed on camera about their experiences. Guests will also be able to write thank-you postcards which will be delivered to firefighters by Museum staff.

·         Children will be able to decorate ornaments that will be sent to the Capitol to be placed on the Colorado Christmas tree. The theme for this year is “Celebrating Our Great Outdoors.” Kids who create ornaments can also sign up for a chance to win a trip to D.C. for the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

·         Gymnastics Fun Bus – http://www.funbuses.com/ – Free for kids!

·         From 10am to 2pm the Broadmoor Academy of Music students will perform rock and pop music in the gazebo / more live music throughout the day

·         Food trucks: Springs Cupcake Truck, Josh & Johns, HerStory Café

·         Free lemonade and water

·         Tours of the Museum every half hour

·         Guests can make their own hand-print Colorado flags to take home

·         Local artist Corbin Hillam will be creating a chalk mural on Museum grounds to thank firefighters for their service. Guests can participate in the creation of the mural.

·         Guests can participate in touch-bag artifact activities throughout the Museum
