According to Kurt Schroeder, Colorado Springs Parks, Trails and Open Space Manager, Blodgett Open Space trailhead escaped the Waldo Canyon fire. There is some burn damage higher up, which is being assessed. We’ll let you know when we find out the extent of the damage. As of July 5, Blodgett Open Space is still closed and is being used as a staging area for firefighters working on extinguishing hot spots over the ridge.
All other Colorado Springs and El Paso County Parks and Open Spaces have been re-opened for public use.
Fire danger remains extreme, so please be vigilant and report any irresponsible activity and/or fires immediately.
