Animal Kingdom in Colorado Springs

“Strange Attractor” video

The London-based indie-pop band Animal Kingdom will be in town at Black Sheep on Tuesday, August 7. This will be the band’s debut U.S. trek so it’s definitely going to be a great time.

This trio just released their sophomore album on Mom+Pop (Metric, Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian, etc.) titled The Looking Away. If you’re into dreamy, ’80s, John Hughes high school film-inspired music, this is the band for you. Their single, “Strange Attractor,” has been doing really well at radio and there’s been some great chatter about it online via press and fans alike.

– “…a collection of ethereal indie-pop.” – Interview Magazine

– “‘Strange Attractor’ is a whipped pop blend of atmospheric melodies and a heart-wrenching, high-flying chorus that only gets more thrilling as the song progresses.” -NYLON

– “The album’s first single “Strange Attractor” shows Animal Kingdom at their best with heart-wrenching pensive lyrics set to a blazing indie rock beat. It’s the perfect juxtaposition of heart and head and a welcome addition to an iPod filled with soundalike indie tracks.” – IFC
