Summer Reading Programming for Teens In June and July

 

Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 5, 2012) – Participate in this year’s Teen Summer Reading Program!  The program runs from June 1 – July 31 and is open to anyone going into grades 5 – 12. You can register online at ppld.org/teens or stop by your local library. Earn prizes just for reading! Read for fun and read anything you would like! Up for grabs are: coupon books for free eats, games, books or journals, T-shirts, wall climbing lessons, movie passes, and more! Read 9 books by July 31 and be entered into a grand prize drawing for an eReader! For a complete schedule of the events and printable game cards, check ppld.org/teens.

Craft Mondays

Let your creative sparks fly in the East Teen Center. We’ll have quick, free, and fun crafts while supplies last.

All Day on Mondays

 

East Chess Club

Join others and play chess. Learn new moves and meet new people. This club is for all

ages. All skill levels welcome. No registration necessary. Questions? Call 531-6333, x1319.

Knitting Kninjas

Come join other teens and learn different stitches, patterns, and techniques! Feel free to bring your own supplies and knitting projects, but we will also have yarn and needles

to use. For beginners or experts, ages 12 – 18.

Thu., June 7 and 21 from 4 – 5 p.m.

 

Scribes and Bards

This is a writer’s workshop for students in middle school through college. A published fantasy author will lead exercises, discussions, and writing lessons.

Gaming in the ETC

Join us for gaming in the East Teen Center. We will have Rock Band, DDR, and Kinect!

Stop in to show your mad skills! Teens and tweens (9- to 18-year-olds) are welcome!

Creatures of the Night by Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Which animals “own the night”? Come see a set of very interesting animals from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and find out for yourself! Registration is required and

space is limited to 30 people. Participants must be in grades 5 – 12.

When a family moves to a country home, the young girls experience strange happenings that have a link to an occult event years past. You bring a friend, we’ll bring the popcorn!

Briargate Teen Anime and Manga Club ( Glow in the Dark Session):

An entertaining club for teens ages 13 – 19 where we’ll watch anime, talks about manga, and possibly plan fun cosplay events. During this session everybody will glow in the dark! No registration required!

Challenger Learning Center Flight Director Event

Meet a uniformed Flight Director from the Challenger Learning Center. He’ll conduct a presentation and activity based on the Star Challenger teen book series.

Teen Craft: “Aliens and Monsters, Oh My”
Join us at the Briargate Library for a fun teen craft. We’ll be designing a very cool alien with all sorts of interesting items. We’ll play music and have snacks while we craft as well!

Springs Rescue Mission Community Service Event

Teens will customize light switch covers. So be ready to be creative. Feel free to bring photos or artwork to use on your light switch cover. Supplies will be provided.

Teen Gaming Day
Join us for teen gaming day at the library. Various games will be available to play, including games for Wii, Xbox 360 Kinect, PS2, and laptops. Teens, you can bring your own games and controllers, but all games must be rated “Teen” and below.

Alien Crafts for Teens
We’ll be designing a very cool alien with all sorts of interesting items. We’ll play music and have snacks while we craft as well!

SRP Teen Movie Night – Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Own the Night with Sherlock Holmes! He has always been the smartest man in the room… until now.
