Colorado Springs, Friday, May 25, 2012 – El Paso County Hazardous Waste is participating in the 8th annual Dump & Donate on Saturday, June 9.
Dump & Donate, sponsored by Harris Group Realty along with the Organization of Westside Neighbors, will be holding the annual recycling day on Saturday, June 9th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Coronado High School parking lot. Bring your new or gently used clothing and household items for donations to Catholic Charities.
El Paso County Hazardous Waste will also be there to help residents properly dispose of household hazardous waste. This is a great opportunity to get rid of old or unwanted household paint, auto and small truck tires, fluorescent bulbs and all kinds of batteries. Commissioner Sallie Clark, whose Commissioner District 3 includes the Westside says, “This event is a great collaboration of public and private organizations to benefit our neighborhood and I hope everyone will take this opportunity to get rid of unwanted items and protect the quality of our ground water by ensuring proper disposal of items that shouldn’t wind up in our landfills.”
Universal Green Recycling will also be on site at Coronado High School and they will be accepting any size mattress for only $5. Blue Star Recyclers will accept large or small appliances, electronics (fee of $1 per inch for televisions and $10 for computer monitors) and a chipper will be available for branches up to nine inches in diameter. No items will be accepted that require Freon or that run on motor oil.
